Programs
Our martial art has been designed to be a martial art that students can continue to train in and improve at throughout their entire life.
Our adult program emphasizes overall improvement in health, flexibility, self-defense, as well as personal success and achievement of goals. We offer adults the ability to learn techniques that have physical, emotional, as personal growth benefits.
All of the techniques have been designed, with input from the medical community, to ensure the safety of the art. The techniques do not twist or lock joints, as in many other martial arts, so potential damage to your body is greatly decreased. By using full body sequential motion, our techniques have been proven to be much stronger than other martial arts that do not use full body sequential motion or follow through. When techniques are practiced in this manner, the muscles in your body creates muscle memory so that if you were to ever need to defend yourself, your body already knows what to do and can more effectively defend yourself. Martial Arts that focus on competition tend to train for "points" versus for health or defense. No matter what age, we do not compare students to each other, rather personal improvement is the focus. All ages will benefit from training.
Some additional benefits of training for adults are:
- Increased energy and overall health
- Increased self-defense skills
- Increased self-confidence
- Increased flexibility
- Increased stress management
- Increased strength
- Increased leadership skills
- Increased focus
Adults training benefit from overall health and fitness and are thrilled to be able to train at their own pace, in a safe, friendly and supportive family.
Higher Calling Martial Arts family program is a wonderful way for the entire family to participate in an activity that has life long benefits.
Training with the family allows parents and children to set goals and then learn and progress together. It also helps parents experience, first hand, what their children are learning and participate in their accomplishments. When parents and children train together, children are given the opportunity to also assist their parent acquire new and exciting skills. This is very empowering to children and parents are able to see leadership skills develop in their children.
Some additional benefits for families training together are:
- Increased unity within the family
- Increased mutual respect among family members
- Unified family goal setting
- Increased encouragement to achieve goals
- Increased accountability to achieve goals
- Increased quality time spent together
I can not emphasize enough what a blessing it has been for our entire family to train together and achieve common goals. We all have our own strengths and weaknesses which allows us to also help each other out. Training at Higher Calling Martial Arts is the ultimate family activity!
At Higher Calling Martial Arts, we believe that training in self-defense should be an important part of everyone’s lives, but especially for teen girls and women.
We offer introductory Self-Defense Seminars that give basic self-defense information and tactics, but firmly believe that the more training you receive and the more often techniques are practiced, the better outcome an individual will have if they need to physically defend themselves.
With this fact in mind, we have developed a special program just for teen and adult women that focuses on Self-Defense. This program is offered when based on requests. In this program, we will educate students on safety and how to effectively defend yourself. We equip you techniques and knowledge that could one day save your life. The training includes, but is not limited to, the techniques taught in our regular martial art classes but also include techniques specific to the needs of women. We train in a safe, fun environment without the need to “test” for the next belt striving for a goal of “black belt”. This program takes the focus off of "belt rank" and puts the focus on the ability to reduce you chances of becoming a victim.
Ladies’ Self-Defense students are not required to be regular HCMA students. Anyone can attend!

Advanced Classes are designed to help students prepare for their Black Belt Dan (degree) tests.
These classes are required for students who are Purple Belt and higher preparing for their 1st Degree Black Belt and for students within 6 months of each additional black belt degree.
In some martial arts all you need to do to earn your Black Belt is perform your most current techniques. At Higher Calling Martial Arts, we want to insure that all of your skills are continually improving so we require students to be able to perform all patterns and speed drills up to your current rank as well as perform Defense Drills, Shield Attack, and Power Test.
These classes consist of reviewing and perfecting all patterns and speed drills focusing on performing all techniques to each student’s best ability. We also work on Defense Drills, Shield Attack, and Power Test. This class is run at a much higher intensity to also work on student’s stamina and endurance as a Black Belt test can take as long as 4 hours.
Master Jackson does allow, on a student by student basis, some students who are not yet Purple Belt in rank to attend these classes. Students who want more of a challenge and who have the attention span to make it through this class are often welcomed to attend as are all students who are the rank of Black Belt or higher.
Our Tiny Tiger Program introduces students to our martial art in a program that is specifically designed for preschool aged children through an educational process that offers much more than just learning how to punch and kick.
HCMA has partnered with Timothy Ministry at First Baptist Church of Woodstock to provide martial art classes to homeschool students through this ministry.
Higher Calling Martial Arts is proud to be partnering with Timothy Ministry in Woodstock, Georgia. Timothy Ministry is a homeschool ministry based out of First Baptist Church of Woodstock. This ministry exists to provide homeschool parents with educational support by offering academic as well as enrichment classes for homeschooled students and their parents.
Timothy Ministry is where Mrs. Jackson began her ministry of teaching martial arts. Having homeshooled her own two children, Mrs. Jackson understands the challenges, as well as joy associated with homeschooling. Finding quality, challenging, and wholesome supplemental classes for children can be difficult, but Timothy Ministry offers these type of classes. Mrs. Jackson has the opportunity to bring Higher Calling Martial Arts to students may not otherwise have the opportunity to be involved with such an amazing martial art by teaching at Timothy Ministry

Acworth Choi Kwang Do also teaches classes at Classical Conversations Kennesaw.
This separately run, but still part of ACKD, location stemmed from one of our homeschool families being part of Classical Conversations.
Classical Conversations supports homeschooling parents by cultivating the love of learning through a Christian worldview in fellowship with other families.
Head instructor, Mr. David Sayers, is the primary instructor at this location and teaches classes two days per week. Classes are held in the evenings and are primarily for Classical Conversation students and their families.
Students who take at this location are also able to participate in all ACKD activities as they are still part of our ACKD family!
Higher Calling Martial Arts also offers classes in Woodstock on Thursday afternoons from 11:30-12:30
