Congratulations on taking the first step to becoming and staying fit - committing to training together at Higher Calling Martial Arts is a great start. I would like to challenge all of you to GET FIT. When I say this, I am speaking of many different areas of your life. I want to challenge you to get fit spiritually, intellectually, and yes of course physically.

INTEGRITY - the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles.
Integrity is one of our principles at Higher Calling Martial Arts that we say every time we begin class. We are supposed to be working on integrity, but how many of us have actually taken the time to think about what this means, and to truly try to work on this principle in our lives? I am thinking that many of us say this word but, sad to say, do not take it to heart.

- S. Lewis once said, “Integrity is doing the right thing, even when no one is watching.”
I really like thinking about this character trait in this way. Integrity is not a single action that you take once in a while, it is an entire mind-set that you should live by.
So how do we begin to live a life of integrity and continue to strengthen this character trait and why should we care about being young men and women of integrity?

HUMILITY: the quality or state of not thinking you are better than other people
Humility is one of those principles and character traits that everyone will struggle with from time to time. It is also sometimes so hard to understand what it is to be humble. This month I want to focus on exactly that - what does humility look like and what it does not look like.

HUMILITY - the quality or state of not thinking you are better than other people.
Humility is a very difficult concept to understand sometimes. It is within our nature to want to be really good at something and then to share that with others. God tells us to be humble or to have humility as not one of us has been created “better” than anyone else. This does not mean that we are all equally good at everything, it just means that in the whole picture, when compared to God, we all fall very short of His greatness.
